Padding

A gambeson is supposed to satisfy many different tasks: for one, it is a seperate armour, standing for itself, when worn by a warrior on the medieval battlefield and withstanding blows by the opponents weapons. When used in LARP or the reenactment of medieval battle scenes with steel weapons today, it will minimize the hits recieved and protect from bruises. Worn underneath a steel armour, it will prevent scratches and maximize the wearing comfort. It is a costume for itself, when complemented with a belt and a few accessories and will serve as a "well fortified" outer garment. We offer gambesons in many different cuts and patterns.
We offer them for all armour purposes: thick padded, with or without collar, as a modular system or even a little thinner to still look good with a heavy plate armour. Naturally we offer arm and leg padding, coifs and collars as well. They can be worn as seperate costumes as well and increase the comfort under plate or chain mail armour. Especially chain mail coifs can barely be worn without a padded coif underneath. We suggest to always weare some kind of padding underneath armour when outside in the fields – this hobby can cause some scratches and bruises in many different ways when fighting or simply strolling around. A gambeson is a good choice for that.
Not only does the jacket protect, it keeps warm at nights – in contrast to its steel armour counterparts.
