A simple, straight cut weapons tabard in two colours. The pattern is squared in the heraldic manner.
Open on both sides, you just slip your head right in and tie it with a belt around your waist.
A good way to keep your collegues informed where you are on the battle field and who your lord is (if not you yourself).
