Il teniere è in legno massello, flettenti, staffa, sicura e grilletto sono in acciaio con finitura brunita. La sicura blocca il grilletto deve essere inserita prima di armare per evitare uno sparo accidentale. La balestra “Bernardo" può essere facilmente smontata per il trasporto. Per fare ciò è necessario rimuovere il perno di sicurezza sul frontale; la staffa e l’arco possono quindi essere rimossi. La balestra ha una forza di trazione di circa 30 libbre.
