This chain mail was made for bigger people and their need for bigger chain mail shirts.
It is app. XXL in size, is equipped with long sleeves and covers the thighs half way (depending on how much material you will need around the middle of the body. We suggest to wear a padded gambeson underneath any armour to avoid scratches and bruises. Those might occur at all times when wearing any metal armour. A belt will distribute the weight.

John chain mail

This short-sleeved chain mail was built for average sized adults with a "normal" chest circumference. It is wide enough to be worn on top of a padded gambeson.The sleeves cover some 2/3 of the arms - still being considered a short sleeve chain mail - and reaches down to the middle of your thigh.We suggest to wear this chain mail with an average chest circumference from 90cm to 125cm. This way it chan be worn in combination with a padded gambeson and can extend itself to a maximum width of 140cm circumference. A belt can help to distribute the weight properly. The blank version is fully galvanized and does not rust. Oiled and browned chainmails are ungalvanized and are supplied with a high lubrication. Please remove the excess oil before first use. Ungalvanized chain shirts should be treated regularly with oil like Ballistol. We suggest this chain mail for wearers with an chest circumference of app 90 cm to 125 cm. This way the chain mail can be worn over a gambeson and will extend to a maximum of 140 cm underneath the arms. The rings in the "armpit" are fully riveted. As shown on the picture, we recommend to wear the chain mail above a gambeson and with a belt, to readjust the weight.
